Hierarchical Markov modeling for fusion of X ray radiographic data and anatomical data in computed tomography

چکیده
We consider an X ray computed tomography (CT) image reconstruction problem where we want to include some geometrical informations coming from anatomical atlas and propose new methods based on hierarchical Markov modeling and Bayesian estimation approach. We use two kinds of anatomical information: partial knowledge of values in some regions and partial knowledge of the edges of some other regions. We show the advantages of using such informations on increasing the quality of reconstructions. We also show some results to analyze the effects of some errors in anatomical data on the reconstructed results. key words: Data fusion, Markov modeling, Bayesian estimation, Computed tomography, Fusion of radiography and anatomical data.

Fusion of X ray radiographic data and anatomical data in computed tomography
In this paper, we consider an X ray computed tomography (CT) image reconstruction problem using two different kinds of data: classical X-rays radiographic data and some geometrical informations coming from anatomical atlas and propose new methods based on Bayesian estimation approach for this data fusion problem. We used two kinds of anatomical information: partial knowledge of values in some r...
متن کاملEstimating the Radiation-Induced Cancer Risks in Pediatric Computed Tomography
Introduction One of the central questions in radiological protection is the magnitude of the risks from low doses of radiation, related to the justification and optimization of the diagnostic medical exposures. Therefore, the aim of this study was to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality risks in children of different ages, sizes, and ethnicities undergoing computed tomography examination...
متن کاملEmpirical correlation for porosity deduction from X-ray computed tomography (CT)
For obtaining reservoir petrophysical properties, for example porosity, non-destructive methods such as X-ray computed tomography, CT, seems to be precise and accurate. Porosity is deducted from the CT image with a single scan via different techniques, such as pore space detection by image segmentation techniques then correlation with porosity. More than one hundred samples with carbonate li...
متن کاملPatient doses from X-ray computed tomography examinations by a single-array detector unit: Axial versus spiral mode
Background: X-ray computed tomography (CT) examinations deliver a significant amount of radiation doses to patients comparing to conventional radiography examinations. The objective of the current study was to analyze and investigate the average patient received dose from axial and spiral CT exams in a medical imaging center. Material and Methods: In this study, the patient imaging tec...
متن کاملAn iterative method to estimate x-ray attenuation coefficients in computed tomography
Introduction: The basis of image formation in Computed Tomography (CT) lies in the x-ray linear attenuation coefficient of the scanned material. Compton scattering and photoelectric effect are the dominant interactions of the x-ray photons with the subject, in the range of diagnostic radiology. These two coefficients are important in tissue characterization by Dual-Energy CT (D...
